GW was my first "real" online game. Now I'm trying to broaden my horizons.
I'm looking for something that (in no specific order)
1. I can play with my guildies and friends,
2. doesn't have that gank factor in towns where higher levels can just go around killing other people,
3. if it has pvp more power to it, if it doesn't then meh (not a huge factor)
4. decent graphics
5. doesn't have it so that you can become "leet" just from the time you've spent playing or items you've acquired (GW's model for this was great)
6. doesn't mean that I'm going to lose my items or characters because I decide to take a break for a while.**

I'm not expecting another Guild Wars or anything and I don't mind having to pay to play if the game is good enough.
If anyone have any idea of any games that remotely fit what I listed please point me in the right direction.

** I don't know how pay to play games work, as I've said GW is my first, maybe they're all like that. I don't know.

Lots of game are out there, some free fun games out there if you can't afford the 15 a month fee of the other market holders,

SWG (Starwars Galaxies; dieing but was fun for a few months) is a classic, however its not so fun anymore,

L2 (lineage 2; hard grind) pretty fun, pure grind fest somewhat... i tried the trial and wasn't so bad, also you endorse PLAYNC when you pay to play it and that helps Anet

Eq (Everquest 1 or 2; machine killer) this game will kill any subpar pc, my PC can play GW on max with 20-35 fps and i can't even run EQ 2 however eq 1 is a decent game,

WoW(yes world of warcraft) i wouldn't reccomend it, but its fun... for the first few hours, after that it gets boring as hell

Guildwars 2 will be out in 2 years so keep an eye on this big title coming out

some free MMOs are out there like Rappelz (never played but heard its alright), Space Cowboy was kinda fun, Risk your Life 2 is pretty fun too, like Lineage 2 but free, if i remember right.

Keep looking at the PLAYNC website for information about the new upcoming games they have, lots of them look good

Also, pay to play games work simple, you either go to stores, and buy "time" cards which come in 30 days (1 month) for 15 dollars (depending on the game/where you buy it) or 90 days for like 45 dollars (not bad for 3 months of addiction, cheaper than drugs!) Or you can use your credit card, with this the company withdraws 15(more or less depending on game) on a set day of the month and gives you credit for the game, you can cancel the subscription anytime you want

I've decided the check out Everquest first.

WoW - I got bored of it within the first hour. Prob going to start up on GW again until Hellgate London arrives.

Played EQ for 2 years, then quit due to the lack of soloing options at higher levels. If you wanted to get anywhere once L60+, you had to raid. However, these were a royal PITA and consumed entire weekends. All the incessant loot fights and ninja-looting finally convinced me to quit. It was fun at the start but had way too much grind-requirements long-term.

I started with Guild Wars as well, but guild wars is not exactly a content rich game, so I typically play 2 months on, 3 months off on other games while I let it become fun again.

When I am not playing guild wars I play:

World of Warcraft: People who are not very far in it will say it sucks, its actually as good as people rave, I just dont care for the level ladder all that much, good open world PvP system and lots of cool people to do things with.

Lineage II: Grind-fest, but has the best pvp ive ever played, not a whole lot to do, but if you can get up there in levels the castle siege's are incredible.

Eve Online: The only decent space-based MMO out there in my opinion. Lots of fun, but its little bit of work to get to the real fun pvp. Did I mention gigantic universe?
